The Gospel of Thomas

Jesus said,
"If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.'
If they say to you, 'Is it you?' say, 'We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.'
If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'"

"If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.'

First of all, wow, what a great passage, and it tells the whole story on how God came into existence and then us. We have come from the original Light, which came into being as God, when God became Aware of its existence, Aware of its Being in space, a Still Eternal Light dawned and it was permanently established in dark infinite space. The Light that blossomed from God’s Awareness formed another dimension, which gave us a place for our Soul to blossom and become Aware of its Being, but by us Realizing the Father’s already established Kingdom of Heaven.

“And appeared in their image”

The Light that shines on all images and the Light that brings all images to life, originates from the Soul of the Father. All images appeared from this Eternal Light making them a reflection of the Almighty Spirit.

This Light is responsible for everything and your Soul is a part of that Light, eternally so, and this means the Father is always with you and there is no escaping that.

The Eternal Aware Father gave living beings Eternal Life, a part of his Eternal Being, and Eternal Vision develops when the Aware autonomous Soul Realizes its true nature.

We have an eternal Soul just from living out a temporary life, and still we impoverish the Soul to despair and conflict.

If they say to you, 'Is it you?' say, 'We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.'

Jesus wanted his disciples to take over once he’s gone, because he had limited time and death was the punishment for what he’s saying.

He rightfully speaks for the Father, so he hands over this big responsibility to the disciples. He knows that his disciples and followers are his only hope that the words will carry on and keep living.

We are all God’s children, and to know that first hand is to be Self-realized (enlightened), like Jesus was making him the chosen teacher and leader, otherwise you are self chosen.

This gives him the power to act and speak for God, but in the end the choices is up to each teacher to step up and take it, stay back and teach or don’t teach at all. He had a healing quality that kept him out in the spotlight and there was no hiding from that, so he had to take charge at sometime. Dying for the cause at the right time wasn’t that big of a decision for him, but torture before death changes that.

If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'"

Another great line, that tells it all and so simply done. “Motion” is time, energy, and the particle universe, while at “Rest” is the Still energyless realm of Eternity, or the Kingdom of Heaven. Motion, is our temporary existence and Rest is our Eternal existence. Our Soul is at rest with the Father in the Kingdom of Heaven at all times, this is our true nature, the reality of the situation, and that will never change. What happens is, an energy connection develops through birth and the Soul thinks it is ‘Motion’ (the mind, body), but in fact you are ‘Rest’.

‘Motion’ is the child of the Father, and ‘Rest’ is the Father.

I’m really enjoying this. It’s a real privilege to decipher Jesus’ words especially if you’re a follower of his teachings, like I am. Before my own Self-realization I couldn’t really grasp the meaning, and even now some parables are a bit misleading with missing or added words and lost original context, however the Gospel of Thomas is real tight and close to the Source.

Jesus said, "Congratulations to the poor, for to you belongs Heaven's kingdom."

He has compassion for those who struggle and barely survive so he tells them that your value is not measured by what happens down here, in fact your real life is Eternal and priceless, riches beyond compare. No one can take that from you, it’s yours to behold and cherish, and it will never leave you and nether will the Father. He hands over his Kingdom to you to live out your peaceful eternal life there, after you transition from manifestation. So, fear not, worry not, horde not, and you shall be rewarded for your unjustified persecution.

You will be as great as the greatest and equal to all beings.

Jesus said, "Whoever has come to know the world has discovered a carcass, and whoever has discovered a carcass, of that person the world is not worthy."

Whoever knows the world for what it really is, must also know the Father, and because of that he knows his Soul is the beginning and end of all worlds. He knows the world as an imperfect reflection of the Almighty Light, while the real Light shines elsewhere in a perfect realm of tranquility, which lasts forever. A place where death and decay is nonexistent, however on earth everything is in a constant state of change and decay, making death and dissolution the only thing you can count on.

If you know beyond a doubt that you are not this and your home is not here, and your real Father (mother) is not here, then you don’t identify with anything here, and the world no longer holds you to its dying ideals. You have jettison all attached anomalies through Self-realization and you now know your Self as pure everlasting Perfection, and you don’t want anything but that eternal Perfection as your identity, making the world and universe unworthy or obsolete in comparison to the Almighty Spirit.

Science is the study of growth and decay, which is a carcass with a limited time span.

Spirituality is the study of the Spirit, which never decays or dies and lives forever.

Jesus said, The Father's kingdom is like a person who has [good] seed. His enemy came during the night and sowed weeds among the good seed. The person did not let the workers pull up the weeds, but said to them, "No, otherwise you might go to pull up the weeds and pull up the wheat along with them." For on the day of the harvest the weeds will be conspicuous, and will be pulled up and burned.

Jesus said, “The Father's kingdom is like a person who has [good] seed.”

God is the Seed that planted the universe, and that (good) Seed also established Light to the Father’s Kingdom and rests eternally as our Soul. The good Seed gave birth to life and all the good things, but also gave birth to evil.

“His enemy came during the night and sowed weeds among the good seed.”

The enemy here is the volatile conditions which we have to endure in order to succeed on earth. Your eternal identity is now sowed in with the weeds and you start troubling yourself with the weeds, but you must always remember the seed is weedless. Anything can happen to you and it’s the nature of the environment we’re in, because the positive and the negative go hand in hand, and you have to choose wisely and endure the weeds.

“The person did not let the workers pull up the weeds, but said to them, "No, otherwise you might go to pull up the weeds and pull up the wheat along with them."

The ‘Person’ here is the Father who does not interfere with the process nor does anyone else. He leaves the positive and the negative to work itself out, because you can’t have one without the other for they sustain each another, and the weeds make the good, good. It will all work out for the better in the end and the weeds actually help you find the Kingdom through the process of elimination. Leave the weeds alone and they will find the good Seed within them, which comes from leaving the bad weeds behind.

" For on the day of the harvest the weeds will be conspicuous, and will be pulled up and burned.”

When your life is coming to a close and its time to move on your Afterlife will be dictated by your weeds, until you realize the Seed of the Kingdom of Heaven. Your return to Eternity will be determined on your ability to burn away all the bad weeds until you only have the good Seed left. The Soul is all you need and all those new attributes that sprouted from the Seed in life will have to be discarded, surrendered or left behind.

The Seed is all you need.

Jesus said, "Congratulations to the person who has toiled and has found life."

Again, he gives praise to those who found eternal life through enlightenment. These types of lines also tell us that anyone can find eternal life before death via Self-realization, and it also tells us that we are the same as he. A lot of his sayings infer that when he speaks of eternal life, finding the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom belongs to you, and especially when he congratulates those who found the Kingdom. This implies it can happen to anyone and it’s within all of us, so we must work hard in order to exercise that right and find the Kingdom of Heaven. He tries to tell us this secret and it’s the center piece in the majority of his sayings and parables.

He has said in the Bible over and over again.  “I am only the son of man”, mentioned some 65 times. But, back then and even now a lot of people want a definitive statement of solo hierarchy to Godliness. This establishes religions and takes center stage above other religions. Thus the word ‘God’ was tossed into the saying instead of ‘Man’ in the Gospel of John twice, and they overlook the other 65 times.

He probably said this so many times to offset the feeling of separation coming from the people he wanted to help, and you can’t help them if they think they are not like you and it’s not within their power to change and find eternal life while living. This verse tells us otherwise.

Very helpful explanations on this path. It feels good to understand things beyond mere words and to know there is more to our creation than the mind/body which otherwise takes up almost all of our time.
